Thinking it maybe a good read and useful as another possible reference. Has any in the group spent any time with the book? If so would be interested in comments. An entertaining read with some good historical documentation for the information.

I’m still in Chapter 1 and already picking up answers to questions that have been sitting there waiting for answers one of which is a table that explains how the rate of British Man of War. Mr. Masefield presents the information in a very readable manner and the experience he gained while serving before the mast no doubt adds to his research. First published in 1905 he wasn’t that far removed from the period of “Nelson’s Time”. Also enjoying the pictures, plates and drawings included in the book. The ISBN 0 85177 313 3 is what is shown on the copyright page of the Conway Maritime Press Ltd 1984 edition of the book I received. [ Edited Fri May 03 2013, 01:31pm ]
