On a recent trip to Ireland I visited the replica ship in New Ross and took lots of photos for reference. There are too many to post here, so I have built a share site on Shutterfly to share the photos. Here's the link to the photos: http://dunbrodynewross.shutterfly.com

The original Dunbrody was built in Quebec in 1845 for the Graves family, a shipping family from New Ross, Ireland. A detailed history is on the ship's web site, at http://www.dunbrody.com/visitor-info/the-history-of-dunbrody/ The replica was built by the JFK Trust in the 1990's. President Kennedy's great-grandfather sailed from New Ross to the USA in 1848. I did notice some differences between the replica ship and the plans. There is no windlass on the replica, the fife rails are different, and there are iron rings on the masts with belaying pins at the same level as the fife rails (these don't show on the plans). There were no sails on the ship when I visited, probably because it was docked for the winter.

I wanted to show the living conditions of the emigrants, so the sectional model was the best way to show it. There's a detailed build log on the ModelShipWorld forum, at https://modelshipworld.com/index.php?/topic/13125-dunbrody-irish-famine-ship-by-mahuna-148-sectional-model/
