Numerous to say the least, does not include all the wires, thread and tubing that's required to finish the build!... So much fun! Wish me luck and hopefully more pics to come...sooner than later![]()

I completed mine at the beginning of January 2008. It took me four years (starting and stopping due work assignments) but it was pure pleasure. I didn't any real skills, let alone tools, but I persevered. Yous looks like it is coming along nicely. I based mine on the one that is hanging at the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum. I found an out of print book Albatros D.VA German Fighter of World War I by Robert C. Mikesh which was published by the Air & Space Museum as Vol 4 in a series of books of famous aircraft in the museum. It shows how the museum restored the plane complete with diagrams, plans, photographs, and other goodies. If you can find a copy yourself it would be worth your while to obtain it. A few details I would point out that I still remember. - The Britannia metal is very soft and unforgiving when you try to bend any piping. I used metal coat hanger wire (after I sanded off the black paint) where ever I could. It was a bitch to bend but then I didn't have to worry about over bending during fit ups or improper cuts. -The manufacture information plates on the engine and the emblems on the propeller were homemade decals. The manufacture plate were images of real vintage engine plates and the emblem design came from the book. - Getting the shape right for the "leather" ring around the cockpit was accomplished by putting a wire inside the plastic tubing and hiding the seam where the ends met with the binding thread which attached it to the fuselage. It was simply a matter of bending the wire ring to the proper shape. Here are a few images of my completed project ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
