The easiest way to obtain better curving is inserting styrodur filler blocks between each bulkhead, - it is better filler than styropore (styrofoam) since it is easier to cut it and give it a shape. After inserting Styrodur fillers, and sanding the hull, cardboard planks will follow the hull's shape without any problems and roughness. [ Edited Sun Apr 05 2015, 01:05pm ] | ||

I don't think the original builders could have replicated their planking if they were to have done it twice. I think you are the only one who would ever notice the difference. Wonderful build. ![]() Registered Member #4556 Joined: Tue Jan 13 2015, 04:20amPosts: 11 | I did contemplate adding a filler between some of the bulkheads, but thought that this would be too great a deviation from the process. Instead what I did was add framing strips from the bottom to the top between the bulkheads. This was very effective in adding strength to the planks as I added them. As far as scale is concerned I used to make a lot of buildings in cardboard for 15mm Napolenoic wars so I'm comfortable with the material and small scale. I do plan on adding masts and rigging but am still a way off from that point. | ||
