Ebony for guns and Wales. Basswood for deck planking. Yellowheart for ship’s side planking. Walnut for other stuff. I buy a lot of pen blanks . They are ¾” square by 5" to 6” long and can be used for different ship parts where you only need a small amount of material. I usually get mine from Woodcrafters but there are a lot of suppliers on line. Mike

The next photos show the main hatchway. The sides are made from blood wood. I ripped them to the angle shown on drawing 50 then glued the patterns to the inside of the hatch and cut the coroner joint with a band saw. The hatch cover boards are made from walnut. The Waterway and deck planking are basswood. The spirketing and lining are blood wood. When I finish the lining the Main wale and side planking are next. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Hi Jeff, Thank you for the drawings. Do you have another project in the works? I have been looking at the Pandora for a possible build.

Its currently crated up awaiting next field season. I suppose I can do a "work so far" version?

I would recommend the “Battle Station Project for a first build. If you have built several kits you would be able to complete the section it will take a lot longer than you think it would. If you start a log here on MSB any of the guys here myself included will be glad to answer any questions or help with problems you might have. Hi Jeff, The drawings have made the section a pleasure to build the tree nails have taken a lot of time but they make the ship look more complete
