It's called Onshape, it is cloud based, requires no software installation and offers a free plan and a subscription plan. It runs in your browser, iPad or Android tablet. I have been using it for about 8 months now under the free plan to design my 74 gun ship and other projects. https://www.onshape.com [ Edited Sun Jan 31 2016, 11:39pm ]

In AutoCAD, you can insert images, scale them, and then use them as a reference for tracing lines. Can you do this with Onshape? Thanks, Bob Hunt

One of the thing I like about OS is everyone shares in the updates whether they have a free plan or a subscription plan. They are constantly making improvements which are largely based on user feedback. Also, it's possible for multiple people to be working on the same file at the same time. OS has grown quite a bit, they have a great following and a nice forums, training videos, etc. I think it's great especially for hobbyist like ourselves who can't afford top end CAD packages like Solid Works or Inventor.

Yes I agree. Something I forgot to mention when I signed up for the free version I quickly learned that my 10 yr old 64bit computer's Radeon graphics card did not support webGL which is required to run this program on your web browser, tablet or phone. Also, your browser must also support webGL and most modern web browsers like Firefox and Chrome support this feature but some browsers disable this feature because of performance issues. I learned too that some graphics cards are supported and some are not. I spent about $60 on a new card. I can pretty much do any task I want on my PC, stream video or music and the modeling is not in anyway hampered by my multi-tasking. I have a dual core pentium processor and it handles things very nicely. I can only imagine what the new i3 and i5 chips can do. Here is a link about webGL https://www.khronos.org/webgl/
