I did not make a formal set of drawing to model the Pandora. I scanned the pages from the AOS book then inserted them into AutoCAD drawings as needed. Where possible I used the scanned images scaled to the proper size directly without redrawing to make the parts and pieces. I did generate all the frames using the method used by Gene Bodnar’s Practicum for the USB Eagle. I will send you copies of the frames if you want them. I would highly recommend that you download and review Gene’s Practicum for the USB Eagle before you get too far along with your drawings. Are you using AutoCAD or a different CAD program? Mike

Also, take a look at my DeltaCAD drawings of the Peacock, Sir Edwaed Hawke, Eagle, and Essex. If any of those are of interest to you, I have the plans and can send to you as long as you start a build log here. If you would like to learn DeltaCAD, I can give you pointers along the way there as well. Bill Edgin is also well versed in DeltaCAD, see his Eagle. You have a lot of options here, CAD drawing is not hard, but it does take meaningful effort and time. I find the plan development to be as rewarding as the actual build. Good luck! G

So far I've photocopy/scanned the AOS GA hull lines into PDFs and imported them into GIMP 2.8 at around 30 pixels/mm, then rotated, cropped and inverted the images to white lines on a black back ground. I've now exported these as JPGs into Autocad2007 as two separate raster images on separate layers so I can adjust for the seam in the book using the 5ft grid spacing shown on the drawings. I've also enlarged them to full size and aligned them square to each other. My next step was to trace the lines and start lofting the frames, but thought I'd take a moment to check if I'd missed any thing before racing ahead. I will take note of your advice and read the practicum and articles you mention. I would also like to take up Mikes offer for the frame plans he produced. I still aim to produce these myself, but feel better having something to reference against. I agree the planning is very much part of the process and am fussy by nature with details, but I can get carried away and have learned to be cautious. Gary, I'm interested in your plans of the ESSEX, and will indeed start a log of either ship. I'd like to proceed with the Pandora (have the bit between my teeth now). But would value these so I can check them against Pandora. My email adress is:- adam.stone2011©hotmail.co.uk or StonerUK©icloud.com Many thanks to you both.

You will want to buy the AOTS book if you plan to build her. My log on this ship has other books of interest as well. As for lofting, make sure all three of your drawings are faired prior to starting, otherwise you will drive yourself crazy in the process. I did...Best, G

I have run into some issues with accuracy problems of the plans and translating that into CAD, so I was hoping that I too could use your drawn up frames to use as a reference (since they clearly 'fit' as we can see from the great model). It would be a great help. And I would of course also start a build on your forum. Thank you for your help, I am still in awe of your build! cheers,Dave
