How are you going to lift that glass (I presume it is glued at the seams?) over Black Pearl----a crane? Keith. Glass display is glued at the sims, but it is not that heavy as it looks like- it weights 22kg, and it is reinforced by break proof secure foil which also adds 99,2% UV protection. Glass display is not glued to the base it simply quite tightly fits within the profiled edges which are roughly 35-40mm above the base surface. so it is possible to transport the ship inside the display case or all elements separately and than fitted at the site. Since I have VAN, it is easily transportable all fitted and assembled, I shall screw the ship's stand to the base , fit the model ( it has steel rods in the model stand which fit holes in the keel, as guidance and lateral movement lock. ) Complete display with a model ship inside il less than 30kg so 2 persons could lift transport and put in place easily. I had no previous experience with acrylic glass and I feared that over the long time it could slightly change the color becoming a bit yellowish, and of course cleaning acrylic glass over the time could bring some fine scratches which is not the case with the glass. I compared that acrylic glass to headlights acrylic glass at new cars... after years it becomes yellowish, with micro scratches and not so crystal transparent so you need to redo them and polish to get a clear crystal look headlights. Yes, it is the task for 2 persons.. me and my son... delicate one but it is could be done with a maximum care. .. once put i place it will remain so and no need for further lifting. Anyway, once fitted - I shall make pictures so we shall see how it went ![]() | ||
