Guest | I am beginning a new project putting various portions of shipwrecks on the beach. It could be just a single anchor or a full bow, waist or stern section.Weathering is one of my favorite things to do.I will start by working on the portion of the waist that I didn't use on the 1/72 Fantasy model. Guest | After reviewing hundreds of pics of shipwrecks I have decided on this one probably in 1:72 scale.![]() [ Edited Sun Apr 08 2018, 02:15pm ]

Guest | This is a pic of the Mars lying at the bottom of the ocean. On a beach, a shipwreck like this would probably have different debris field but the hull would be pretty much the same.

Guest | The stern is on the right in this pic and most of the bow area is gone. An interesting thing is the hull shows a single battery of large guns with a smaller battery above not the usual configuration as far as my research shows. There is a nice view of the ribs and the gentle curve of the wales. The timbers used here are just huge but of course, the large trees were available from the virgin forest in those days.

Guest | a closer look at the planking.![]() The joint has explained over time but you can just see what may be the caulking between the boards. The thick plank below may the edge of the wales. The fasteners(trunnels) are just visible and I would guess that they would be made of wood.

Guest | Nice view of the ribs below and what is left of the structure for the sterncastle above.Note the sprung plank at the stern.I am trying to figure out the look of rust around some of the hull fasteners.Could they be iron after all? wood or iron would be common in those days except iron would be much more expensive.
