Sanding belt will last ages. At each end of the ply glue on wooden handles from any waste lumber. You now have something like a home made rasp which will conform to the exterior shape. For the internal shape I have used a similar length of 1/2" (12mm.) garden hose with taped on handles. Both of these tools require a certain amount of "feel" when using otherwise you may take off too much wood at each end. A better choice for hose would be soaker type hose. It's a bit stiffer. Usually a simple narrow sanding block will suffice. BUt this might do the trick on this one. I do have rasps (large and small) but fear taking off to much material.

You will have to go slowly on this one although I have never had to remove that 'orrible char. Anyone doing this to get everything fair on new wood should run the rasp or sanding stick parallel to the centre line of ship, and I find it best to put pencil marks along every frame. Then when you take a breather after a few strokes, check to see if the pencil is being removed and what is not. Rasp away accordingly. Best, Keith. [ Edited Mon Sep 10 2018, 09:59pm ]

Time is currently at a premium due to work and its taking an exceptionally long time (mostly my fault due to lack of available time) to get the sanding done. But a little bit is getting done each day. With any luck I should have all the sanding done in the next sitting. That being said, all has progressed well and other than a minor issue or two already pointed out so far everything has gone together well.
