I took out the Bireme to the pool the other day and attempted to improve my skills. Problem with leaving things sit for two years is you forget how to use them and things corrode over time after exposure to water, in short it needs work now. Good old Charon is something I have to be in the mood to do and the electronic nightmare it is makes me a little hesitant to tackle, I will do that when the time is right. My Flame Licker engine will get attention from time to time but I'm in no rush to finish it. Now for the reason I'm doing doing this thread. While I was playing with my Bireme I thought I should have a boat I can mount a camera on and cruise around driving by camera. I tossed around some build ideas and thought about the runabout I sold to a guy in New York it was a good looking boat and my own design. I dragged out all the African hardwood I have left and I think I have enough for one more boat, time to start the build. Her is a pic of my lake boat, I will make a much nicer version. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Simple is all I can do, an example is I will look at a machine that contains a thousand parts, I will break them down to small pieces that I can digest. Then I take these small pieces and put them together to get the large picture of what I'm trying to understand. stopacramp.com [ Edited Fri Sep 14 2018, 08:48pm ]

I drew out the ribs on a sheet of plywood using guesswork and a ruler, which explains why the second rid gets missed by the plank by about an inch. I was going to throw the keel and ribs in the trash, but then I thought "what the heck maybe I can fix it". Looks like garbage now but scrap wood, sawdust and epoxy can fix gaping holes, it's whats on the surface that matters. Here are some pictures of the build so far. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

That looks like a 'chine' hull and they can usually be constructed using sheets rather than individual planks. I think you should consider using CAD to construct the hull. That's 'Cardboard Assisted Design' - so get out the scissors and reach for the cereal box! ![]() In case of dificulty, Papierschnitzel may be able to help.
