Because I am getting low on them I have only put in the ones that would have been used with the guns. I then put together Chucks 24mm boxwood wheel kit, made the housing sides, drums and disks in pear and assembled them all. Also I did up some timberheads but I think I will redo them, they look to overdone (carved) to me. Cheers ~ ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I don't like the pin stripe tape that the kit supplied to use for mast rings. It is very shiny unlike anything else in the build. While I have searched and read about folks using paper to make them. I did up an experiment seen in the pic below. I used a sharpie permanent marker to color a strip of matt photo paper seen in the lower ring test. This was glued on with white glue. The second ring above it is from the pin strip tape which I will not be using. Do you think a sharpie marker is good enough to use on paper or should I go with paint? I stained the bit of dowel after to see if the sharpie ink would run from the stain and it did not. On top of that it seems very durable as I have rubbed on it and picked at it to see how solid it is. What do you use if making them? If paper, how do you color it, or do you use colored construction paper? Your thoughts as always would be appreciated! ![]()

Did some work on the bowsprit and jibboom instead. I can tell you that when I add on the flying jibboom onto the jibboom it is going to be a mile long. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I have used it all the time on my models and as you noted ,it does not rub off easily. One suggestion though would be to drill a couple of small holes in those bowsprit chocks and insert some brass wire with a drop of cyano glue. Jewelry supplers will have it. Keith.
