Using Dave's CAD drawings, some of his friend's Mohemed's 3D stuff, original photographs, drawings from books, my own experiements, etc.. we have begun creating a library of parts that I can fabricate in my shop. Attached is a photo of the very first "production parts" from this effort. These are laser cut window frames for the HMS Alfred in 1:64 scale. They are cut in 1/16" Costello Boxwood and feature frames that are only 1/32" thick. The billet is backed with masking tape and the parts have no tabs. There is a second sheet, not shown that provides 2 complete sets of windows (extras). These parts along with other stuff will be shipping to Brian Carroll all the way to Australia next week for his scratchbuilt Alfred. I highly doubt you will find window frames with this level of fidelity in any kit (even from China). Tomorrow, I will be laser cutting/etching the columns that go between the windows along with assembly jigs. I will post a picture when complete. Enjoy. ![]() [ Edited Tue Sep 22 2020, 03:57pm ]

The smaller sheet is 1/16" Boxwood and the other two are 1/8" Boxwood. These are all the columns and jigs for the window frames. The reason there are so many parts is because I made (2) two of everything. The columns and upper stern jig also include laser etched details. Enjoy.![]() ![]() ![]()

Ahhh, very good suggestion Dave!!! I need more practice on my parts "nesting". The grain of the boxwood is so fine and the parts so small, hopefully they will work out well for Brian anyway. At least he has extra just in case!!!

Since these parts are under no stress, grain direction for strength is irrelevant. Only appearance matters! [ Edited Sun Aug 23 2020, 08:57pm ]
