Lester Hi Lester. I cut out first square piece of wood, with the desired side length. Than using disk sander and a simple jig to hold the piece at 45deg, angle I sanded corners to the marked lines getting actually not hex but octagonal shape. After getting octagonal rod, again I made pencil marks on the piece and using again my Parkside disk sander, I made slight slopes on each side and each of 8 sides of the rod. getting the proper octagonal conical shape. After that I cut the piece in two halves, , drilled appropriate holes in both cuts, inserting the gear gear section with the wooden shaft fitting exactly the drilled holes, and gluing it back in the single piece. Than I cut both ends so the central part had the exact width between the holding blocks, and put cut off pieces in a mini wooden lathe making the cylindrical ends with the with according to the holding side blocks. Again I drilled in all parts center hole, put round rods to keep it centered and glued it back within the side holding blocks. I drilled along the winch 1.5mm holes than using a tool which I made for this purpose I punched slightly each round hole with the tools making the square shape of it. Sounds complicated yet achieved satisfying results... | ||
