Drove down to the neariest print shop. I had 2 copies of the plans on 17x11 printed up. I ran out the door with plans in hand with a big stupid smile on my face. So last night I was able to cut out the frames, cleats, stem n stern posts, boat bottom from the plans. They are now glued to the material and ready to be sawed out tonight. I hope to post pictures soon after that. But have a wedding to attend on friday, which might prolong the posting of pictures. But I have started. Winston and Jeff I thank you for these beautiful set of plans. It's going to be fun. Even though they are free for the download. I plan on making a donation to MSB for your kindness. If you have any heads up information I need to know as I progress please do not hesitate. Gonna need all the advice that I can get.... I have posted this build log on MSW and SoS model ship sites. So hopefully MSB will grow with more members. cheers Mario [ Edited Thu Jul 04 2013, 12:56am ]

This is going to be a real fun project for my first srcatch build. hey scoot, Don, Mike thanks for stopping by. thank you Mike if you see anything I'm doing wrong let me know. I will be asking, you can count on that.... My goodness I have finally broken ground. Sorry for the delay my friends. So the adventure begins.....Yea Baby!!! I cut out my frames, stem n stern posts, the fore n aft knees, and the boat bottom. Now I will spend the rest of the day sanding the items cut out and ready them for install. Plus I will experiment with my rove creating. I will show my results later this evening.... So now I'm going to go back at it. Just stopped long enough to finally show some progress my friends ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Still have a bit to sand on the frames and cleats. But did not get to my testing the look of the roves. On the plans it shows a butt seam of two planks running down the middle of the boat floor. I figured in real life this should not be. Because since the stem n stern posts will reside in their respective positions. Wouldn't this create a week joint? This is just me using assuming things again. So I drew a center line on the floor bottom and repositioned the plank seams. cheers Mario So here is a little more progress on the Batteau.... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() [ Edited Sun Apr 22 2012, 05:16am ]

Looking at the plan, it appears to show the position of one such joint. I assume other planks would have the butt positions staggered. The point where I lost the plot was the change to the use of a centre plank!
