The only thing I had to change was the angle of frames Dn E because they resided on the stem post. It's very easy to w/w. To make it my own. If you notice on Jeff's plans the stem n stern hull views from above show slight curvature on the hull. Is the best way I can descripe it. I gave my little boat a sparper point on both ends. History shows these boats were made to suit the area they were in. They used the French version a a guideline and changed it to suit their needs. I did this because I like the sleak look. It was just a minor change not much of anything. Plus there has never been abosolut proof they were painted or not. I decided to use minwax ebony only on the hull and the knees. The rest will all be minwax sanding sealer Hey Gene, Thank you Sir very for your kindness. Yea this scratching building is causing me to approach things differently and think things out differently. It's a lot of fun. I like the POF thing... Edingraham, Thanks for kind words. A lot of modelers do not like basswood. Because it tense to get a little fuzzy with working it. But I enjoy it. When I was 18 a w/w an old carpenter who taught me how to deal with soft woods. He said one big thing is keep your used up sandpaper because it works very well with soft wood. Thus it help me build as you say a clean rpoject. I'm enjoying it. Gene is a big fan of basswood to. Look at those wondeful models he has build with them. He does inspire me to do the best I can... So I'm a desert rat.HAHA! I have no maritime experience. So when I just cruise around these modeling sites and read some threads it's all latin to me. Very hard to understand the lingo. So since i love this hobby. My goal is to be known as the guy who's threads are very informitive. So when other modelers are in the same boat as me they will have a thread to go to and break things down for them. Hi Don, Cutting patterns from sheet 2 is not going to work. It's only one demisional. It does not show the inward curve of the hull plank. Best way to get what you want is to install the stringer to make all the frames as one. Then fit the knees at both the bow and stern ends. Then add your inwales. Once this is all done you now have very solid structure. Then you must measure from the top of the frame to the boat bottom on every frame. divide by the number strakes which is 4. Use a small stripe of paper(tick strip) and transfer your equally divided marks to the paper and lay the paper on the frame you took the measurements from. Transfer your marks. Once all frames are done I ran a strip of Tamiya tape for the shear strake to see that my measurements created a nice smooth curve to the 1st strake. or you can simply use some dividers and mark the frames without using a tick strip. Which is what I did. I then cut a stripe of paper card as narrow as I could go so it would lay as flat against my hull structure as possible. Then I simple used the edge of the tape to trace out the bottom edge of the 1st plank. Once done all you do is glue to the wood strip(use elmers repositioning glue stick) cut out and repeat for the other side. The elmers glue is great i simply peel the pattern off very easily. get it at Walmart one package 4 glue sticks 99cents.... Don 3d modeling is what some modelers do on computers to build their models. Mario | ||
