I use tung oil on my models. THANKS AGAIN Don. PS will send EV the material list that I emailed her about latter today the material list is on the NRG web site so I took a look at it. There is going to be a lot of cutting and hand work on the Washington build. Personally I would not use Maple or Boxwood or any hard wood. Jeff shows a lot of joinery and hard woods make it difficult to do. What I would do is use either Cherry, Basswood, Poplar, Pearwood or Alder this class of hardwoods are hard and keep a sharp edge but they are much easier to cut and shape. The thrill of the build is more important than building a model out of an expensive or rare wood and something like boxwood is a real pain in the #$% to use if your working with hand tools. I have about 3,500 pounds of it and I use cherry and pear for my builds.

A few weeks of work left and I will move on to the next project. you were asking about saw blades i do not use a table saw but i do have an old Jarmac. I never had luck using slitting blades because there is no set to the teeth and they tend to burn when cutting and sometimes bind in the cut. a blade needs a set to remove saw dust.
