Well made some saw dust tonight. I'm still doing some finish up work on the house that I'm living in, but I was the general contractor and about everything else. So need to start thinking about detail tools again and working to closer detail. I went over and cut some boards down on the large saw and then setup the sherline mill that I have, to cut the rabbit. See Pic. Worked out using that bit from wood touch to depth that seems to match the drawing I needed to drop the cutting bit about .070. The end cuts that you see in the pic don't look as nice as the parts look, but that's them in 1:48. I'm still thinking about 1:48 or 1:36. I seem to like that larger size. Which means that I'll be making another set of parts if I decide to upsize like others have down. Still thinking about making this a nice large master piece. Still thinking.. Well new site for adding pics, lets see if it works out. ***** update the thinking is over redid the plans into 1:24 then finally printed them Time to start all over again. ******* Later Tim ![]() ![]() [ Edited Wed Jan 22 2014, 04:11am ]

So if anyone can share any info I would be Thankful. Thanks Later Tim [ Edited Wed Jan 22 2014, 04:12am ]

Anyway, it seems you're working very precise and clean, I'm looking forward to what follows. PS : what do you mean about missing a button ? I never use buttons to add pictures, I just use the image code.

At 1:32 the width of a single frame is about 5/16" making the double frame about 5/8" thick. Sorry about the confusion. I was looking at the scale ruler on the plan sheet. Looking forward to more.

I'm planning on getting the other tools out over the weekend and plane down a few other woods after I get to see the plans in the next steps. I'm still thinking about what scale to use, Pete38 seems to be liking that 1:32 scale and I'm thinking it over and really don't want to put a lot of time and effort into something that I'm going to redo anyway. Also I noticed that another member kept his false keel long so he could screw it down to hold it in position. For the final woods still thinking that over. The sherline mill and bit are still sitting there waiting and I can repeat cutting the rabbit anytime till I need the mill for something else. Woods thinking ebony for false keel, then parmarfin or basswood for keel and then I saw someone use ebony for the keelson, looked nice. So thinking about that also. Thanks for the posts. Hope to post some more stuff over the weekend. What do you think about on the woods?? Later Tim [ Edited Wed Jan 22 2014, 04:13am ]

I love 'painting' with different wood colors and species. Haven't tried ebony yet, though. For now, I just use a black felt tip to give the effect of ebony where I need it. Works pretty well and not near as hard as working with the ebony.

If you wanted to see a larger profile picture then while I'm waiting for the cross section files on the other site I'll post a larger size pic that I took while in Paris. Ok, got carried away. These are a group of pics of a model of a French shipyard. I redo this post later after I remember or look up where I took them. Give credit where credit is do. ENJOY I keep saying to myself someday someday. Later 42rocker ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

So if you see flashbacks or slight blurring well you should have seen the pics that were deleted. Hope that you enjoy them. Almost forgot how do you build a stern?? This is how.
