Finally cleaned out and got the table saw hooked back up to the dust vacuum. Brought over a plank of ParMarfin 6 x 1 x 48 inch and some popular 8/4 x 4/4 x 24 inch and some basswood 8/4 x 4/4 x 48 inch. Cleaned the blade and did a few test cuts, old pine, then some popular I was thinking about building with, then did 2 passes on the basswood. Hid the ParMarfin on the other side of the shop.. Well I'm thinking new blade, adjust the fence. Or some of the other ideas I've been thinking of. So while making saw dust I'm still at square one. I'll get there just not today. Hope that you had a good build day. Later 42rocker

All of which I might add were sharp right of the package. Well changed the blades, reviewed the fence and got out a wood clamp and clamped down a board on the outside of the fence so it could not move out any. Then made some saw dust. Cut 6 new strips of basswood and 8 strips of popular. All about 24 inches long and 2 inch wide and .375 thick plus or minus 3 thousands. I'm happy with the finish so will not be running them through a thickness sander. Don't have one yet anyway. Someday, the new change program really hurt my extra pocket change. In the next few days I might cut a keel and keelson out of the ParMarfin that I hid. Then might try to cut a false keel out of an ebony plank that I have. Have a great day building or whatever works for you and yours. Later 42rocker

I fought the printer and did win.. Here are some pics of the first two cuts and how bad they came out and then a pic of the popular that seemed to have a sap or something run in it that I could not avoid have show up. More on another day Later 42rocker 1st two pics how rough the first day cuts were with old blade. Next is the popular showing the same bad area on all cut boards, over looking the first 2 planks from the 1st day last is the basswood that came out fine. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() [ Edited Wed Mar 20 2013, 04:28am ]

Planning to take the wife out to dinner tonight. She has a review today, teacher. Hopefully a "Way to GO" dinner. In the above pics the last two were with the old blade and they look it. Plank three from the bottom looks worse than it is. You can't really feel anything. I'll try to pick the best looking side for outside areas and others will be the inside glue surface. Onward. Not sure if I'm going to mix the basswood and the popular for the sistered frames or not. Later 42rocker

It looks like the scorch marks are being caused by either a slight pinching as the wood is exiting the blade or that you are feeding at different speeds. The slight discoloration can be removed with a couple of passes with a cabinet scraper.

The worse two were using a well used blade. On the popular cuts I tried very hard not to change speeds or amount of pressure that I used after the first couple had the burn mark in the same area. In looking at the piece it also seemed different in that area. Any rate going to try your method of cutting later tonight or tomorrow. I was trying to cut .375 inch pieces for this build. So hoped that I could do using the cut of piece to the fence. Hope to do better next time. Will take some photos of the setup this time. Also going to be cutting .5 inch thickness this time. So we shall see. Enjoy Life. Later 42rocker

How is the family member in your family that was sick. Doing better I hope? Well I fought the computer and I won.. The things that you can do with a baseball bat ---- fixing a computer is not one of them however. 6 screws trip to store plug in new power supply and up and running again. Next is to eat and the work on some pages for The Humphreys Papers and then go from there. Hope that you folks got some modeling time in. Later 42rocker
