Model Ship Builder - Kit Release

Model Ship Builder is please to announce the release of its first Model Kit. Based on The Battle Station Project at our sister site Navy Board Models, this is a great introductory kit for those wishing to start Plank-on-Frame modeling. Because it is only sectional build tt provides the modeler with some of the basic construction designs and details of the upper decks of a ship. As well it makes for a nice display piece for those who do not have the room for a full fledged ship. We hope you enjoy. You will find it in the MSB Kits section of the site. (see the new menu item to the left of the site).

MSB Journal - December 2009

The December 2009 issue of the MSB Journal has now been posted to the MSB Journal page.

As well, for those members of the Matthew Group. Updated drawings have been uploaded and are now avaialble in the Matthew Group download area. It appears there was a minor issue with the drawings which was quickly resolved. Also, in the forum area and via email there have been some requests about resizing the drawings to 1/4" scale, so, we have also uploaded a set of 1/4" drawings to the downloads area as well.

For those not members of the Matthew Group, please note that you will not have access to these plans. To become a member of the group go to the Matthew Discussion forum area and request to be added to the group.

Happy Modeling
Winston Scoville
www.modelshipbuilder.com

The Matthew POB Bulkhead Kit

There has been a number of requests made wondering if we were ever going to be able to make the Bulkhead kit available for the Matthew Build. If you have been following the Matthew Forum you will remember that we needed to get 20 orders for bulkhead kits before it was really viable.

We've had quite a few new members join the site since we originally visited this idea so it was suggested that perhaps we put out the offer again to see if we could obtain enough people interested to warrant placing an order.

The offer is simple. The cost of a bulkhead kit is $26.00 + shipping (but only if we can get 20 orders). Also note that the bulkhead kit is based on the original proto-type build that was covered in the MSB Journal, so it is at the 1/4`=1`. So it is at a larger scale than the plans here on the site.

So, if you would like to reserve a kit, please go to the Matthew Forum and let us know. Be sure to only add your name to the list if you are serious about purchasing a set.

At present we are almost half way there with 9 orders. If you want to see what's in the bulkhead kit, go to the Matthew Project page. There is a link there to the kit page.

Look forward to seeing you in the forums.

Winston Scoville
www.modelshipbuilder.com

Just a quick note to let everyone know that I have added three new forums to the forum area. This will help finding information and posts much easier. If you beleive we need another modeling genere forum added please let me know.

Also, the Matthew Project has 7 parts posted to the practicum now. That's about half way thorugh the information that I have on hand. We're still looking for someone to pick up on the build where it was left off. Namely, the masting and rigging need to be covered as the initial proto-type build was just a hull model.

The Matthew Build Under Way

The Matthew Build is now underway. To date there are four sections that have been posted.

Still under consideration is the possiblity of a future Plank-on-Frame build of the Matthew. As it sits right now, there appear to be enough interested in the project to warrant running one. However, due to current commitments it may be a while before it gets off the ground. So, stay tuned.

Also of note, the September Issue of the MSB Joural if you have not already heard is now available for download.

Keep in mind, we're also looking for contributions to the modeling tools section. So if you'd like to help out send me a message through the contact form.
